WHO IS BEHIND MP3Relief.org?
MP3Relief.org is an international,
grass roots project based Detroit, Michigan USA.
The company behind the development and hosting of the mp3relief.org
web site is Loudbaby.com, an experienced e commerce
and web development company, established in 1998 and specialized in
serving the entertainment industry. Additional information regarding
Loudbaby may be found here.
WHAT IS THE MP3RELIEF.ORG LICENSING
AGREEMENT:
We've made every effort to keep our licensing request as simple
as possible in order to expedite the licensing process. And while
our licensing agreement does contain some of the usual and necessary
lawyerish jargon and legalese, the core of the mp3relief.org donor
agreement is really quite simple. You
agree to permit us to make your song available for paid download
from the mp3relief.org web site for a period of one year, or until
you decide to terminate your participation, at anytime and for
any reason. The license is also NON-EXCLUSIVE, and due
to the specific nature of the mp3relief.org web site and
mission, we believe that artist participation in our project should
have a negligible negative impact on the sales of donated material
that may be available in other venues. We plan on promoting Mp3relief.org
heavily in a variety of mediums including online, broadcast
media and print so participating artists should expect to receive
increased international exposure as a result of their participation.
Furthermore, the positive image benefits associated with participation
in a charitable effort such as mp3relief.org should result in increased
positive awareness of each donor participant and
potentially increased sales by the artist in their other commercial
endeavors.

agreement.

WHY A MUSIC DOWNLOAD SITE?:
We believe that a pay-per-download
music site is an excellent vehicle for charitable fund raising for
many reasons including the following:
• Low overhead - Since the mp3relief.org
web site is able to utilize the preexisting resources, infrastructure
and intellectual capital of Loudbaby and because pay-per-download
digital-media is inherently inexpensive to deliver, the operational
expenses of mp3relief.org are extremely low, thus resulting in
the greatest possible net proceeds going directly to support
disaster relief aid.
• Youth participation - MP3relief.org will provide an opportunity
for participation by a younger demographic who may be overlooked
by many other fund raising efforts. (Kids can take part in this
charitable effort for as little as $2.00)
• Great engine for publicity - due to the
inherent attractiveness of artists and celebrities, mp3relief.org
has the opportunity to generate ongoing awareness of disaster
relief efforst, even as the world begins to tire of an event
as a front page story and the inevitable "disaster fatigue" sets
in.
• International outreach -
Unlike other fund raising campaigns and events like concerts or
compilation records, mp3relief.org's audience is not
limited to a city, country or territory.
• Fast collection and dispersion of revenue -
Online, electronic commerce is fast. So fans of mp3relief.org
artist donors can expect the proceeds generated by their song
purchases to be put to work helping victims very quickly.
Loudbaby has agreed to provide Mercy Corps with monthly sales reports
and contribution checks based upon net proceeds from the previous
month.

WHAT IS THE IDEAL DONATION?:
All generous song donations are appreciated and we make no demands
as to the exclusivity of donated material.
Having said that, there is no question that the more rare and unique
your donated song is, the more attractive it will be to your fans,
and consequently the more it will assist us in the promotion of
mp3relief.org and ultimately in the helping of those who are suffering. Particularly "marquee" artists
who choose to provide us with exclusive and/or previously unreleased
material will be doing an enormous service in bolstering our
charitable efforts. We know that the majority of established
artists have at least one little gem, or two, tucked away in
the archive vault, that their fans would really appreciate. We
hope you will look into your heart and consider the donation
of one of these songs first.

Song Donation Specifications:
• You must have the authority to grant us the licensing rights
to make your song donation available for download via our web
site. (Lawsuits for copyright infringement will do little to help us in our mission
to aid victims.)
(please see our official licensing agreement)
• Your song should be 20 Megabytes or less in size. *
• Your song should be encoded at one of the following bit rates; 128kbs,
160kps or 192kbs
• Audio recordings of any style or genre are potentially appropriate.
Music of any genre, plus spoken
word and even comedy may be donated. Please
be aware, however, that while mp3relief.org does not intend on
assuming the role of 'music critic,' we do reserve the right to
reject any submission that we feel is inappropriate or whose content
we believe would degrade or impede the overall success of
our web site and our fund raising mission.
The most typical reason for the rejection of a song submission
would be due to sub-standard recording quality or a technical
defect in the audio master, based upon our opinion. Including this
material in our catalog could have an negative effect upon the
overall standards
of mp3relief.org and thus restrict or impede the sales of all other
artists on our web site. Mp3relief.org reserves the right to
reject any audio submission regardless of explanation.
All editorial decisions made regarding site content will be based
entirely upon our mission to assist the victims.
* DJs interested in donating a "DJ mix tape" style recording
should contact us. In certain cases, exceptions to file size limits
may be made. Obviously, all necessary releases, licenses and permissions
(as indicated in our licensing agreement) are expected to be secured
by the donor for all material contained within a mix session.

Submission options - How do you get your song
to us?:
Our preferred method of song submission is via our Online
Donor Form.
This form will enable you to upload both your mp3 encoded song
file and any optional artwork you choose to include.
(band photos, record covers, etc)
You will also have an opportunity to answer all the necessary questions
related to the description and classification (genre) of your song
donation. Donors may also mail their recordings and promotional
materials to us (see the address below), to be encoded, scanned
and prepared for web publication by mp3relief.org volunteers. Be
sure to complete a printed copy of the mp3relief.org Donor
Form to include in your package, along with a signed Licensing
Agreement.
If you are unable or unsure of how to do your own mp3 encoding,
we can also do it for you. Please mail us a copy of your song
